Foemmel’s Corners (6 October 1911)

Murl Sweet came Saturday from Chili to begin work for Truman Davis.

Mrs. Freeman Dankemyer and baby Gerald came Saturday afternoon for a several days visit at her mother’s.

Last Sunday morning at seven o’clock Mr. Gottlieb Krause breathed his last after a lingering illness of 3 years, his death being due to paralysis.

Mrs. Alvin Nonhof left for a visit with relatives in Sheboygan, last Monday.

Mrs. Earl Davis is looking after Mrs. Nonhof’s household duties during her absence.

Mrs. Ackerman returned the first of the week from John Schmoll’s whither she went some two weeks before to care for Mrs. Schmoll and baby.

Al Nonhof had a Wolf River apple grown on his farm which will match the one grown on the T. D. Wage farm.

Truman Davis has a potato which measures 18 inches one way and 12 the other.  Emil Krause has a mammoth Hubbard squash and John Pietenpol two very large tomatoes.

Miss Clara Krause came Tuesday from Indiana to attend the funeral of her father which was held Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Steve Sweet of Rice Lake, Murl Sweet and Eldred Davis spent Sunday at the John Breese home.

Truman Davis, wife and daughters, F. W. Davis and T. F. Lee spent Sunday afternoon at John Pietenpol’s.

Solon Davis doesn’t let the wet weather bother him for he has his fall work just about done.

If we had only descended from a species of fish instead of monkeys as some believe, we would enjoy this wet weather.

Quite a number of farmers hauled their rye to Granton the first of the week.

Mr. Wentworth was here one day to look at the King farm with prospects of buying.
