Krause, Gottlieb (September 1837 - 1 October 1911)
Gottlieb Krause, a well-known and highly respected farmer of the Town of York died at his home two miles west of here, last Sunday, Oct. 1, at the age of 74 years and 22 days. His death was due to paralysis and dropsy and for the past three years he was unable to leave his bed. The funeral services were held from the Grant German Lutheran Church Wednesday at 3 o’clock in t he afternoon, Rev. Reiff officiating.
Mr. Krause was born in Germany and came to this country 24 years ago, settling on the farm where he had continuously lived until his death. For a number of years he followed the carpenter trade and has assisted in erecting most of the oldest buildings in Granton. The deceased leaves a wife, Amelia, three sons, Frederick, Emil and Frank, the latter of Rhame, N. D., and five daughters, Louise, Elsie (Mrs Freeman Dankemyer), Clara of Holland Ind., Amelia and Lydia at home.
The pallbearers were: Fred and Wm. Schoengarth, Fred Foemmel, Wm. Kelpin, August H. and Fred Reidel.
