Wojt, Adam (18 JUN 1877 - 28 APR 1960)
Adam Wojt, a resident of the Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) community for the past 51 years, passed away at his home in the city of Thorp Thursday morning, April 28th, 1960. He had reached the age of 82 years, 10 months and 10 days.
Mr. Wojt was born June 18, 1877 in Poland.
He was married to Stefania Ruthowski Oct. 17, 1905 in Altus, Ark. They moved to Wisconsin, purchasing a farm in the town of Withee in 1909. They retired in 1947 and moved to the city of Thorp.
Eleven children were born to this union. Besides his widow, 5 daughters and 5 sons survive him, (Harriet) Mrs. Frank Tomkowiak, Stanley; (Rose) Mrs. John Filipek, Chicago; (Wanda) Mrs. John Cukla, Melrose Park, Ill.; (Edna) Mrs. Harold Powers, Chicago, (Josephine) Mrs. Joe Kozenka, Thorp; Joseph, Eau Claire; Edward, Anacortes, Wash., Adam, Chicago; Anton and Victor of Thorp. One son, John, preceded him in death in 1943. 22 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren also survive.
Burial was made at St. Hedwig’s Cemetery May 2nd. Pallbearers were Stanley Zawacki, Stanley Hucker, Frank Lesniewski, Anton Norysewicz, Adam Wiater and Justin Jakowicz.
Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were Edward Wojt, Anacortes, Wash.; Adam Wojt Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Harold Powers and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Filipek and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Cukla and family of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. John Wojt and daughter, Big Bend, Wis., and Mrs. Steve Yasicki, Ripon, Wis.
