Darge, Clara #2 (5 MAR 1898 - 2 MAY 1960)
Mrs. Clara Darge, 62, of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), died of a heart ailment Tuesday morning, May 3, 1960, at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 6, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church here with the Rev. Robert Olson officiating. Burial was in the East Thorp Cemetery.
Mrs. William Boardman was organist and Miss Linda Tieman was soloist.
The former Clara Doege was born at Thorp, March 5, 1898 and received her education in Reseburg Township. She lived in the Thorp area until seven years ago, when she moved to the city of Thorp.
She was married Oct. 25, 1917 at Thorp to William Darge, who preceded her in death 12 years ago.
Surviving are two sons, Donald darge, Racine; William Darge, Thorp; six daughters, Mrs. Walter (Edna) Peliwo and Mrs. Ed (Elaine Nowak, Chicago, Mrs. Gordon (Leora) Deuel and Mrs. Stanley (Wilma) Sokolowski, thorp; Mrs. Walter (Viola) Graham, Dorchester, and Mrs. Wallace (Dorothy) Graham, Eau Claire; 25 grandchildren; four brothers, Herman Doege, Withee; Ernest Doege, Thorp; Reinhold Doege, Eau Claire; Ed Doege, Seattle, Wash.; and two sisters, Mrs. Jake (Frieda) Keller, Curtiss and Mrs. Dora Quelle, Withee.
Pallbearers were: John Barth, Sr., Philip Mattes, Sr., Emmett Frese, tom Polnaszek, Harry Quelle, Walter Reinke, Jr.
Out of town relatives attending the funeral were: George Russell, henry Russell, Alfred Russell, of Butternut, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Malzahn of Good Thunder, Minn., Mrs. Alma Puress and Mrs. Clara Schneider of Mankato, Minn., Louis Darge, Mrs. Harold Swartzmiller and daughter, Rosemary and family of Mayville, Wis.
