Weyer, Bettie (19 AUG 1958)
Two former Waukesha high school students, Bettie Weyer and Ronald E. Lapp exchanged their marriage vows Saturday, July 19, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. A reception at the church followed the service.
Th Rev. L. Glenn Cloninger performed the candlelight service at which time the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Higbie, 1100 Catherine St., and the son of Sam E. Lapp Sr., 1005 Cumberland Dr., took communion together. Dale Puhl, as soloist sang "The Lord’s Prayer, "Because" and "O Promise Me." Harold Gaspar played the traditional wedding music.
When given in marriage by her father, Mr. Higbie, the bride wore a bridal gown of white tissue taffeta and chantilly lace. The fitted lace bodice had a scalloped neckline and cap sleeves and was designed on an empire line. The lace carried through the back of the floor length skirt to form the tapered train. The same lace formed her elbow length gauntlets.
A small studded crown held her fingertip veil of fine tulle and she had a bouquet of stephanotis centered with a gardenia corsage.
The three attendants Carole Weyer, sister of the bride, maid of honor; Claire Asbeck and Janet Rankin, wore identical gowns made by the bride’s and one of the attendants. They were of jade green taffeta with white chiffon cummerbunds forming bows and sashes. Their crystal shoes were in harmony with crystal jewelry, gifts of the bride.
All carried baskets of daisies in yellow and white with yellow being the predominant color for the maid of honor.
Donald Deatrick was the best man; Jack Howit and William Godfrey, the ushers.
The mother of the bride chose a blue sheath with lace detail and white accessories. Red and white roses accented her ensemble.
For traveling on a honeymoon trip through a southerly route, the bride wore a yellow and white print sheath with a white coat lined with the dress fabric which she made. She wore gardenias from her bridal bouquet. Upon return they will live in their home on the lake at 3172 Oakwood Grove, Pewaukee.
The bride was born and raised in Loyal having moved away in 1945.
