Mardene Caroline Worchel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Worchel of R. 3, Neillsville was taken in marriage by Norman Martin Waldhauser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Waldhauser, R. 2, Loyal on Saturday, Aug. 16, The wedding took place at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at Loysl at a 9 o’clock Nuptial Mass with the Rev. Father King officiating.

The bride appeared before the altar which was decorated with white salmon colored gladioli and Yellow dahlias, on the arm of her brother, Louis Wachel, R. 3, Neillsville.

She wore a traditional styled gown of Rose-point lace and tulle over satin, featuring a Sabrina neckline. A panel of rose-point lace centered the bouffant skirt which had tiers of nylon tulle with three tiers of rose-point lace. Her fingertip veil was trimmed with rose-point lace edging which was fastened to a crown trimmed with sequins, rhinestones and pearls. She carried a white prayer book with a white orchid and pink tea roses on it.

She chose a girl-friend, Mary Ann Smrecek, Willard, as maid of honor. Miss Eunice Howard, Elgin, Iowa, and Miss Lorraine Worchel, Neillsville as bridesmaids. Both are nieces of the bride.

They wore nile green, yellow and orchid dresses with matching crowns. The dresses with lace net over taffeta with lace ruffles on the waltz-length skirts with matching lace jackets. Their flowers were colored roses to match their dresses with white roses.

Joan Worchel, Neillsville, niece of the bride, was flower girl with Charles Howard, Elgin, Iowa, nephew of the bride, as ringbearer. Joan’s dress was a miniature styling of the bride’s dress which was made by the bride’s mother. Her crown was styled after the bridesmaids. She carried a white lace basket with pink tea roses and lily of the valley.

The groom chose his brother Lawrence Waldhauser, Milwaukee as best man. Groomsmen were  Calvin Worshel, brother of the bride, Neillsville and Donald Schmidt, friend of the groom, Janesville.

Alvin Worchel, cousin of the bride, Green Lake and Daniel Pospechal, friend of the groom, Butternut performed the ushering duties.

A dinner was served in the church hall with a reception at the groom’s home. A supper was served in the church hall. Table waitresses were friends of the bride and groom.

A wedding dance followed in the evening at the Silver Dome Ballroom.

The groom is a 1953 graduate of the Loyal High School and the bride is a 1958 graduate of Greenwood High School.

They are touring the Badlands, the Black Hills, Denver and other western sites on their honeymoon.

They return to their home on R. 3, Marshfield.

The groom is employed by Berg Equipment Co.
