Kampmeyer, Jamison N. (May 25, 1977 - March 4, 2012)
Jamison N. Kampmeyer, age 34, died in the line of duty, Sunday March 4, 2012, while fighting a fire at the Abbotsford Movie Theater.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 9,
2012, at the Colby High School. Father Daniel Hackel will
officiate. Burial will be in St Mary’s Cemetery, Colby.
Members of the Marathon County Sherriff’s Department, Colby Volunteer Fire Department and the Marathon County Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the Colby High School, and again on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the high school. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home, Colby is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jamison was born May 25, 1977, in Superior, Wisconsin, the son of
John and Patricia (White) Kampmeyer. He graduated from Colby High
School and the UW River Falls, where he was also a member of the
Phi-Sigma-Kappa Fraternity. Jamison then attended the NTC Police
Recruit Academy.
On October 20, 2001, Jamison was united in marriage to Amy E.
Suckow, at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby.
Jamison was currently a Detective with the Marathon County
Sheriff’s Department, where he was a S.W.A.T. team member and
Field Training Officer. Jamison represented the Sheriff’s
Department as a regional member of the Midwest Tactical Officers
Association. He was also proud to be a member of the Marathon
County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard.
Jamison was also a Lieutenant on the Colby Volunteer Fire
Department where served as an EMT. Additionally, He was an Adjunct
Defense & Arrest Tactics Instructor at NTC.
He was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby.
Hunting and fishing were some of Jamison’s favorite
pastimes.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Amy Kampmeyer, Colby;
children, Jack, Henry and Miles all at home. Parents, John and
Patricia Kampmeyer, Unity, maternal grandmother, Dorothy White,
Naperville, IL, sister, Suzanne Kampmeyer, Abbotsford, brothers,
Patrick (Sara) Kampmeyer, Aurora, IL and Steven Kampmeyer,
Prescott, WI. Father and Mother –in-law, Elly and Mary
Suckow, Unity, Brothers –in-law, Todd (Quincy) Suckow,
Sacramento, CA, Chris (Marxa) Suckow, Galveston, TX and Matt
(Vanessa) Suckow, Altoona, WI, Nieces, Veronica Hellyer, Kayt
Kampmeyer, Emerson, Camden, Emilia and Amara Suckow and Nephews,
Alex Kampmeyer and Ethan Meier further survive Jamison.
Paternal grandparents, Ralph and Isabelle Kampmeyer and maternal
grandfather, Leroy White preceded Jamison in death.
A memorial will be established in Jamison’s memory for an
educational fund for the children.
