Mrs. A. Montgomery went to Plymouth yesterday.

 

R. R. Wonser left for Appleton and Menasha Monday.

 

Morris Jones and Levi Morris were Marshfield visitors Wednesday.

 

Martha Kempin made a business trip to Chili Wednesday afternoon.

 

Mrs. Bert Fradenberg of Humbird came Wednesday to visit her sister Mrs. Fred Hart.

 

Mrs. Geo. Frei has been on the sick list for the past 10 days. She is better though at this writing.

 

The Thipps family came Wednesday evening and are now at home on their new farm, the Geo Campbell place.

 

Miss Emma Bates after a few days visit with Mrs. P.M. Ross went home to Grand Rapids Tuesday morning.

 

John Henning had the misfortune to have the thumb of his right hand badly crushed while working around machinery one day last week.

 

Chris and Albert Paulson went to Chicago Tuesday morning on a combination business and pleasure trip.

 

Adolph Riedel and Wm. Rinehart went to Athens Monday for a visit at Emil Hubing’s.

 

Mrs. Mabel Welsh and Miss Martha Kempin entertained a dozen young people at a party at the Schwarz home Saturday evening.

 

Mrs. Walter Gourlie and daughter Irene after a 10 days visit between the Elmer Knickle, Geo and W. D. Rose and Geo Hart homes returned home to Veefkind, Monday.

 

Mrs. Otto Garbush entertained at a quilting Tuesday.

 

Miss Anna Dyer called on town friends Monday.

 

Roy Hart and Ross Paulson were Marshfield visitors Tuesday.

 

Jack Shaw after a 6 weeks visit here at his son Clyde’s, left for home last week.

 

Mrs. Gus Beilke will entertain the ladies aid of Rev. Reiff’s parish at dinner, next Wednesday.

 

Mrs. Henry Lawson and Mrs. Gus Beilke were Neillsville shoppers, Tuesday. 

 

Mrs. Wm Meyer of Neillsville is teaching here during Miss Eberhardt’s absence.

 

The Misses Jessie Morris and Helen Creigo entertained the young ladies Needlecraft club last Saturday.

 

Morris Jones, Miss Wittkamp, Mr. and Mrs. August Schlinsog Jr., were Neillsville visitors the first of the week.

 

Clyde Shaw is becoming quite used to his artificial limbs and gets about very well considering the short time he has had them.

 

Mrs. Chas Chapel and baby Zona Belle after a several days visit at Grandpa Hart’s went back to Marshfield Tuesday.

 

L. A. Marsh will give a dance next Thursday evening and initiate the new floor in the second story of the News building.

 

Miss Ruby Pilner of Nasonville came over Friday and spent several days with her friend Miss Gertrude Holmes.

 

There will be a meeting at the Union Church, Sunday evening November the twenty-sixth; the subject: "Plans Which God Frustrated."  A collection will be taken up to pay for janitor’s services.

 

Mrs. Harry Lee Dunaway of Seattle, Wash., is visiting friends at Chili for a few weeks.  Mrs. Dunaway was formerly Miss Erma Fadner of Chili and is well known, having lived near there for a number of years.

 

Mrs. H. R. Holmes has been quite under the weather for the past two weeks.

 

Mrs. Ross Paulson is recovering quite O. K., from her recent severe illness.

 

Mrs. Wm. Schlinsog spent Tuesday and Wednesday with Mrs. L. A. Reichert at Chili.

 

Miss Victoria Pierrelee came home from Glidden where she had been visiting her brother Eugene and family, last week Thursday.

 

Chas Schafer of Shortville is enjoying a visit from his dad who came down from Minneapolis on Monday.

 

James McHugh is our passenger conductor since Sunday.  We are all glad to see Jim back and hope he is to be with us permanently.

 

Norman Hart came over from Humbird and spent Friday and Saturday of last week here between his brothers Geo. and Fred.

 

Miss Lydia Worchel, Mrs. Ed Wiesner, Bernard Jahr, Mrs. Adolph Schune, Dan Rausch, Miss Hillert were among Monday’s Neillsville’s visitors.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Dave Garbush went to Sheboygan Monday in response to the news of her father August Uhlhorn’s death there.

 

The Mesdames Henry Winter, Fred Zwick, Orren Montgomery, W. S. Davis and Miss Emma Kimball were Neillsville visitors Wednesday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schroeder and two children of St. Marys, Wis. after a two weeks visit at Martin Degenhardts left for home Wednesday.

 

Ernest Kuechenmeister is the happy owner of a handsome colt presented him last Sunday by his uncle Louis Hantke of Neillsville.

 

The Misses Ida Scholtz and Elsie Kurth were accompanied to Milwaukee last Friday by their grandma Scholtz who went for an extended visit there among relatives.

 

The Misses Louisa and Clara Tischer of Owatonna, Minn., after a week’s visit hereabouts left for home on Monday.  Christ Gerzemehle their maternal grandfather accompanied them home for an extended visit.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Campbell have rented and are cozily settled in the rooms of the Barker house just vacated by Mrs. Frank Converse.  Mr. Campbell too, bought a considerable quantity of Mrs. Converse’s furniture.

The Misses Julia Bentz and Anna Teatz spent Tuesday and Wednesday at Neillsville enjoying the pleasant sensations experienced as patients in a dental chair for hours at a time.

 

A Thanksgiving program will be given by the Granton School at the opera house Monay evening, Nov. 27. Admission 15 and 25c; the proceeds will be for the benefit of the school.

 

We heard a man the other day kicking for a chance to work. That man was a false alarm.  No man who wants work these days need to be without employment ten hours. There are all kinds of work in this district, and good wages can be secured by good men.

 

Clair Eberhardt came up from Camp Douglas Saturday to see his sister Miss Hallie who was very ill.  He remained until Monday and took her home with him.  She will not be able to resume her school duties until after Thanksgiving, at least.

 

The Mesdames Frank Converse and Langdon Nichols accompanied by the latter’s brother, J. H. Winslow, left for Potsdam, New York, Monday evening.  Mrs. Nichols went to spend the winter in caring for her aged mother; Mr. Winslow to visit there before returning to his home in Kansas and Mrs. Converse to join her husband and at least spend the winter there.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grassman went to Wausau Saturday in response to news of the death of her brother Charles Klabunde of that place. The funeral took place on Monday and they returned home Tuesday, accompanied by her brother John Klabunde of Cass Lake, Minn., whom she had not seen in 23 years and who will spend a little time here before continuing his journey homeward.

 

The next number of the Neillsville lecture course will be held Tuesday evening, Nov. 28th and the attraction will be the Kellogg-Haines Singing Party. This number is expected to be the strongest number of the course. Season tickets for the balance of the course may be had at $1.10, children at 60 cents.

 

Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Pietenpol greeted some 58 of their friends and neighbors last Saturday evening with no little surprise.  It was there 25th wedding anniversary.
