Gorst, June Delia (27 May 1923 - 31 March 2012)
June Gorst, 88, of Granton, died peacefully, Saturday, March 31, 2012, surrounded by her family, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield.
June Delia Gorst was born May 27, 1923, in Neenah, the daughter of William and Delia (Jones) Arndt. Her mother died at childbirth, so June was raised by her grandparents, Herman and Amelia Arndt, in the Town of Hewett. When she was 12 years old, her father died. June then moved to Menasha, to live with her aunt and finish high school. She graduated from Menasha High School in 1941 and then began working for Banta Publishing in Menasha. Oct. 9, 1943, she was united in marriage to Vincent Gorst at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. They farmed on Sterling Avenue in the Town of Hewett until 1951, when they moved to Granton and owned and operated Vincent’s Standard Station for 11 years. In 1974, they purchased the Ervin Garbisch farm and made it their hobby farm. Vincent died in 1993 and in 2010 June moved to the Marshfield Care Center.
June loved music and dancing. She also enjoyed bowling and reading. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and taking them fishing.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Beaver of Granton, Lucille (Robert) Feller of Knoxville, TN, Gregory (Julie) Gorst of Granton, Thomas (Nancy) Gorst of Granton, Marianne Weinfurtner of Marshfield, Robert Gorst of Granton, and Delia (Robin) McCoy of Sheboygan Falls; 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent; a grandson, Ronald Beaver; a son-in-law, Ronald Weinfurtner; her parents; and two brothers, William and Clyde Arndt.
