Last Saturday night friends and neighbors, about a hundred strong, marched to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Vande Berg, not with muskets and bayonets, but with rolls, sandwiches and cake, and completely invaded their home as a farewell party.  The young folks were given access to rooms upstairs and enjoyed themselves by playing various games while the older ones passed the time in social chat.  Some took for theme of their thoughts the cheese factories and the condensary, others digested the possibilities of war with Germany and a few indulged in a game of cards, so the hours went only too rapidly for the merry crowd.  At eleven o’clock the "goodies," which always are on hand on such occasions, were passed and then we all shone.  After the repast the party broke up and all went home rejoicing, especially Wm. Rowe.  Mr. and Mrs. Vande Berg have been living on the Dan Timerson farm the past year, and on March first they expect to move onto a farm north of Marshfield that they have rented for five years from M.W. Lawrence.  They will leave a host of friends here who join us in extending best wishes and prosperity in their new home, and will regret their departure.
