Wilding, Irma
Elsie (4 JUN 1902 - 8 JAN 1915)
Irma Elsie, the little daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. George Wilding, died at the home of her parents in the town of Grant
last Friday morning. The little girl was born in the town of Grant on June 4,
1902, and at the time of her death was 12 years, 7 months and 4 days of age. She
leaves to mourn her death, her parents, one sister, Alice, and many relatives
and intimate friends. While at the age of 6 years, she contracted whooping cough
which finally developed into the dread disease, tuberculosis. After consulting
with physicians here and at Eau Claire, it was decided she be taken to the State
Hospital of Tuberculosis at Wales in the hope of restoring her health. She spent
five months there in 1912, returning home with no improvement.
The little
girl was laid to rest Sunday, services being conducted by Rev. Mallory at the
Pleasant Ridge church. A large number of sorrowing friends filled the church and
the pall bearers were six little girl friends--Lillie Hantke, Vera Slocumb,
Marie Carter, Elsie Huckstead, Esther Zille and Marie Hubing. The floral
tributes were many and beautiful and were borne by Edna and Leona Kurth, cousins
of the deceased, and by her sister, all being dressed in white.
Irma was
an exceedingly bright and cheery little girl and during the dark hours of her
illness, bore her affliction with a happy and patient demeanor. She was dearly
beloved by all her friends and acquaintances and the unfulfilled desire that she
be accorded an ultimate recovery is a matter of sincere regret to all.
The relatives from away who were here for the funeral were: Mrs. Wm. Utmeier and
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gandt of Marshfield, Mrs. Lee Gore of Merrillan, Mrs. Albert
Kurth of Milwaukee and Mrs. Wm. Gandt of West Bend
