DeYoung, Elsie (10 JUN 1892 - 12 MAR 1962)
Mrs. Henry DeYoung of New
London, mother of Mrs. Bernard Davel of Loyal, died suddenly Monday evening,
March 12, 1962 at 11:15 of a heart attack. She was 69 years of age and a former
resident of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.).
Services were held Thursday
afternoon, March 15 in the First Methodist Church of New London. Rev. Wesley
Sharpe officiated and burial was in the Floral Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers
were Louie Stedgee, Ed Wirt, Harold Roepke, Wilfred Cupp, Ed Popke and Ervin
Fuerst.
Mrs. De Young, the former Elsie Clemetson, was born at Cady on
June 10, 1892 and as a young girl came to Loyal with her parents, the late Ralph
and Frances Clemetson. She was married Jan. 19, 1911 at Loyal by the Rev. E.R.
Kildow, pastor of the Loyal Methodist Church, to Henry DeYoung, who survives
her. In 1919 they moved to New London and that has since been her home.
She was a member of the Loyal camp of Royal Neighbors of America and also of the
hospital auxiliary of New London.
She is also survived by five daughters,
Mrs. Marie Paulson and Mrs. Victor (Frances) Diestler of New London; Mrs.
Bernard (Katherine) Davel, Loyal; Mrs. Alice Beckert, Killdeer, N.D.; Mrs.
Willard (Mabel) Wied, Clintonville; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
One brother, one sister and three grandchildren preceded her in death.
Attending the services from here were Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Davel and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Davel and Sylvester Bauer.
