Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, April 2, for Claude O. Castner
of 801 S. Palmetto Ave., Marshfield, at the Hansen Funeral Home there. Rev. E.T.
Keller of Pittsville officiated and burial was made in the Hillside Cemetery.
Mr. Castner died Friday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, of
complications following surgery. He was 56 years old.
He was born May 24,
1905 in Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) and received his education in the Loyal schools.
He lived here and at Park Falls before moving to Marshfield in 1938. He was
employed at Weyerhauser Co. until 1954, and then spent a year at Phillips
operating an A & W root beer stand. He returned to Marshfield in 1955 to begin
employment at the Rollohome Corp.
He was married to the former Irene
Kramer Dec. 24, 1939, at Dorchester.
Survivors include his wife; two
sons, Arthur(?) Castner, Fort Lewis, Wash., and Harold at home, and two sisters,
Mrs. Reginald (Inez) Behrens and Mrs. Chester (Alice) Berg, both of Marshfield.
Preceding him in death are two brothers and a sister.
He was a cousin
of Mrs. Orville Widhman, Mrs. Dan Wolter and John Castner Sr. of Loyal, and a
nephew of Mrs. Marth Castner.
