Neuman, Louis (Abt 1881-02 May 1961)
Louis Neuman, 79, of Greenwood was
fatally injured when the automobile he was driving collided head-on with an auto
driven by Mrs. LaVern Hein of Spencer one mile east of Loyal on Highway 98
Tuesday afternoon. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at St. Joseph’s Hospital
at Marshfield. where he had been taken by ambulance. County Coroner Bob Lulloff
said that Neuman suffered a heart attack prior to the collision.
Neuman
was traveling east and the Hein vehicle was headed west at the time of the
impact. Both cars were badly damaged. Mrs. Hein received cuts on her face and
knees and her daughter also received injuries, Passengers in the car were her
daughter, aged 5 and a friend, aged 7.
The accident was investigated by
traffic officers, Pat Duell and David Bertz, Clark County Seriff Ray Kutsche and
District Attorney Everett Gorsegner.
Funeral services for Louis Neuman
will be held Friday morning at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hewitt at 10
a.m. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery.
The body was placed in
state in the Hansen Funeral Home in Marshfield on Wednesday evening.
Mr.
Neuman, who would have celebrated his 80th birthday next Sunday, is familiar in
Loyal having lived here fron 1955 to 1960 with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Dankemyer. This past year he had been living at the Greenwood Home
although he spent most of his time here.
He was a farmer in the Hewitt
area until 1945 when he moved to Marshfield. His wfe preceded him in death in
September 1945.
Surviving are eight children; Mrs. Edward (Francis)
Kraemer, Marshfield; Louis Neuman Jr., Appleton; Mrs. Joseph (Elizabeth) Hable,
Marshfield; Mrs. Tino (Virginia) Rohrer, Glen View, Ill.; Joseph Neuman, Dale;
Mrs. Fred (Mary) Dankemeyer, Loyal; Norbert Neuman, Wis. Rapids; Mrs. Robert
(Rita) Ploen, Marshfield; surviving also are three brothers and two sisters and
22 grandchildren. One sister preceded him in death.
