----- Becker, Yvonne Florence #2 (19 MAY 1962)
Honeymooning in the Black Hill are Mr. and Mrs. James Gies, who were married
Saturday, May 19, 1962 in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. The bride is the former
Yvonne Florence Becker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Becker of Rt. 2, Loyal
(Clark Co., Wis.).
Rev. Norbert E. King officiated at the 10:30 ceremony
during which the church choir sang. For the occasion the bride wore a floor
length bridal gown of nylon organza styled with a scoop neckline edged with
Alencon lace sparking with sequins and seed pearls. Her three quarter length
sleeves accented the fitted Basque. The bell shaped skirt was highlighted by
Alencon lace appliques down the front. The back was fashioned with a peplum over
unpressed pleats. A Swedish crown of pleated silk organza trimmed with pearls
arches sparking with crystal spears, held her silk illusion fingertip veil, and
she carried a cascade bouquet of three lilac orchids and stephanotis.
The
bride chose her sister, Diann Becker of Milwaukee to be her maid of honor, and
her bridesmaids were Betty Gies, a sister of the groom from Milwaukee and Marge
Hainz of Kenosha. They were seen in lilac nylon organza sheaths with square
necklines and fully gathered overskirts. The bodice and overskirt were trimmed
with wide lilac lace. A veiled cabbage rose headpiece completed the ensemble.
The bride’s mother viewed her daughter’s wedding in a teal blue acetate
crepe dress with white accessories and the mother of the groom wore a blue print
acetate dress with white accessories.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. James Frank
Gies of route 1, Neillsville chose Joseph Pietrek of Neillsville to be his best
man, and groomsmen were Donald Urpanbach of Tripoli and Conrad Becker, a brother
of the bride from Kenosha. Ushers were Donald Becker, the bride’s brother of
Loyal, and James Hannen of Loyal.
Following the ceremony a dinner and
reception were held in the church dining hall. A buffet supper was also served
there with a dance being given in their honor at the Silver Dome Ballroom in
Neillsville.
The bride, who is a graduate of the Loyal High School and
the Milwaukee Accredited School of Beauty Culture in Eau Claire, has been
employed at the Hollywood DeLuxe Beauty Shoppe in Eau Claire. Her husband was
graduated from the Neillsville High School and is employed at Northern Auto
Supply in Neillsville. On their return from a honeymoon they will make their
home at 402 E. 4th St., Neillsville.
Out of town guests came from
Madison, Milwaukee, Stoughton, Woodstock, Ill.; Black River Falls, Tripoli, Eau
Claire, Greenwood, Marshfield, and Neillsville.
