Horn, Donald H. (13 SEP 1923 – 19 OCT 2012)

DONALD H. HORN, age 89, of Greenwood, died at the Clark County Health Care Center, in Owen, on Friday, October 19, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, rural Greenwood. Rev. Mark Schwinn will officiate and burial of cremains will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of Service.

Donald Henry Horn was born on September 13, 1923 in Thorp, Wis., the son of Henry and Mary (Woepse) Horn. He was raised on a farm northwest of Greenwood, received his elementary education at Braun Settlement School and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1941. Don then completed a one-year farming short course in Madison. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Biddle on October 8, 1949. They later divorced. Don farmed in the Town of Longwood and also worked as an artificial inseminator. He married Dorothy Bolf at Immanuel United Church of Christ on July 2, 1977. Don retired from farming in 1985 and sold his cows. He continued to live on the farm until entering Clark County Health Care Center in March of 2012.

He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, served on the Greenwood Milk Products Board for many years, and was a member of the Braun 4-H Club, Saddle Club, Clark County Pleasure Rider's and Pony Pullers Association.

Don had many interests, but especially enjoyed woodworking, dancing, fishing, hunting and bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Greenwood; three children: Donald J. (Betty) Horn of Greenwood, Diane Klahn of Willard, Daniel S. Horn of Arpin; five stepchildren: James (Cynthia) Bolf of Greenwood, Marlene (James) Albright of Cameron Park, Calif., Susan (Todd) Wordel of Cedar Falls, Ia., Bernard (Susan) Bolf of Alpine, Tex., Virginia (Brian) Jackson of Spencer; 10 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; one brother: Lloyd (Jane) Horn of Greenwood; one sister: Laverne (Verne) Vollrath of Janesville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Donald B. Horn; one step-granddaughter: Holly Bolf; and one brother: Jerome Horn.
