Shaw, Elton R. (12 March 1928 - 17 October 2012)

Elton R. Shaw, 84, of Marshfield died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at the Marshfield Care Center.

Elton was born in Neillsville March 12, 1928, to Ray and Anita (Halle) Shaw. He moved with his parents to Marshfield in 1942. In his early years, he ran a trucking company hauling lime to farmers in Wood, Clark and Marathon counties. When fields were too wet to spread lime, he and his men cut iron and cleaned metals. Eventually, he stopped trucking and started Shaw’s Wrecking Yard.

He was united in marriage to Cecilia B. Gosar January 29, 1955, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2005. Elton is survived by his wife Cecilia and four children, Joan (David) Boehning, Jean (John) Burkart, Theresa Shaw and Thomas (Betty) Shaw, all of Marshfield. He is further survived by nine grandchildren, Nichole Boehning and Joshua Boehning, both of St. Paul, MN, Jacob Boehning of Marshfield, Lukas Boehning of Eau Claire, Cecily Shaw of Marshfield, Zachary Shaw of Prairie du Sac, Denise (Michael) Lindau of Marshfield, Anita Burkart and Jared Burkart, both of Marshfield; and two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Max Lindau.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Fr. Sebastian Venni officiating. Dorothy Gehrke, along with Sacred Heart Funeral Choir, provided the music for the service. Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at the Rembs Funeral home and again Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial took place in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in the Town of Richfield, Wood County.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Marshfield Care Center for their kind and compassionate care during these difficult times.
