Flanagan, Cheryl Lynn (9 February 1953 - 8 October 2012)
(This obituary is being published again, because of inaccurate information
previously provided.)
Cheryl Flanagan, 59, of Augusta, GA, passed into God’s hands Oct. 8, 2012, at
the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tomah.
Cheryl Lynn Flanagan was born Feb. 9, 1953, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of
Joseph and Colleen (Smith) Flanagan. She graduated from Neillsville high School
in 1972 and was an army veteran of the military Police Corp. She traveled
worldwide during her military career, and one of her favorite places was Sinop,
Turkey. Cheryl also spent time with the Federal Marshall Service and later she
spent 10 years in security with the Marriott Hotel in Augusta, GA.
Cheryl had a zest for life. She loved many people who were in her life. She
accepted them as they were and expected no less in return. She had a love for
crocheting and gave her doilies freely and with her heart and soul, expecting
nothing in return. Her best love of all was being in good company, especially
with Stephen and Jerry, and cooking and baking fro m scratch for them. She will
miss everyone.
She would like to thank the nurses of 402A at the VA medical Center in Tomah.
“They were the best.”
She is survived by her mother, Colleen Kunhart of Neillsville; four brothers,
Mike Flanagan of Lexington, KY, Tom Flanagan of La Crosse, Fred W. Kunhart of
Neillsville and John Kunhart of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Kathy (Mike) Hart of
Neillsville; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend to the family, Danny
Hainz of Neillsville.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Fred R. Kunhart, and a sister,
Frances L. Flanagan.
A memorial service for Cheryl will be held at a later date.
