Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church
for Mrs. Leo (Mary) Schecklman, 66, who died at her home on route 1, Neillsville
(Clark Co., Wis.), Tuesday evening, June 5, 1962, at 7:30 p.m. following a
stroke. Rev. Norbert E. King officiated and burial was made in the parish
cemetery. St. Mary's Altar Society attended in a body.
The Altar Society Rosary was said at 3 p.m. Friday and a general rosary service
was held at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Arrangements were made by the Myre Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were all nephews, Eugene Walter, Franklin Walter, Albert Walter,
Frank Walter, Joseph Walter and Roman Walter.
The former Mary Walter was born in the town of York on April 14, 1896 and was
married to Leo Schecklman on June 5, 1917 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church,
Loyal. Mrs. Schecklman died on her 45th wedding anniversary. She had lived in
the town of York all her life. She was a member of St. Anthony's Church and its
Altar Society.
Surviving are her husband; five sons, George, Chili, Anthony and Edward,
Neillsville, Robert at home, and James with the U.S. Army at Fort Carson,
Colorado; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Florein) Mueller, Latrobe, Pa.; and Mrs.
Louis (Rosalind) Aumann, Milwaukee; seventeen grandchildren; four brothers,
George Walter, Joseph Walter and Anthony Walter, Loyal, Louis Walter, Granton;
one sister, Miss Ann Walter, Loyal. One brother preceded her in death.
Relatives and friends attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Vollmert
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Stubalski and daughter, Wis. Rapids; Mr. and Mrs.
Otto Schecklman, Marshfield; Mrs. Albert Rushlow, Beaver Dam; Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Aumann and son, Butler; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Mueller and son, Latrobe, Pa.; Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Wenner and family, Auburndale; Mrs. Ella Genshaw and Arlene,
Tigerton; Mrs. Sylvester Schmidt, Gresham; Mr. and Mrs. William Schecklman,
Chippewa Falls, and others from Chili, Neillsville and Granton.
