Rev. Paul Doering, pastor of the Loyal Methodist Church, officiated at funeral
services at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21, for Mrs. Nellie Kapfer, 79, a former
resident of Loyal and Neillsville, who died in Clark County Hospital at Owen
Monday. Services were held at the Georgas Funeral Home in Neillsville.
The former Nellie Wagner was born Nov. 19, 1882 in Ohio and was a small child
when her parents moved to Missouri, where she received her education and taught
school before her marriage. She was married March 10, 1903 to Christian Kapfer,
and the couple lived on a North Dakota farm for three years, and at Wausau for
four years, before moving to the town of Pine Valley in Clark County. After her
husband's death in 1931, Mrs. Kapfer lived with a son-in-law and daughter.
She is survived by three sons, Elmer, Granton; Albert, West Bend; and Lee,
Rockford, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Mildred) Timmler, Loyal; two sisters, Mrs.
Wilbur (Dora) Murphy, St. Charles, Iowa, and Mrs. Roy (Minnie) Leeper, Dayton,
Ky.; two brothers, Harvey Wagner, Missouri, and Albert Wagner, Calif.; 13
grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
