Petkovsek, Dorothy (07 July 1927-18 Oct 2012)
Dorothy A. Petkovsek, 85, Willard, died on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Ministry
Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on
Thursday, Oct. 18, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. Rev. Joseph Follmar
will officiate. Burial will take place in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery at a
later date. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until
time of service.
Dorothy Alice Prebil was on July 7, 1927, in Willard, the daughter of Frank and
Alice (nee Klancher) Prebil. She was raised on the family farm, received her
education in the Willard area, and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1944.
Dorothy married William E. Petkovsek at Holy Family Catholic Church on Oct. 23,
1948. They bought her husband’s family farm and farmed until January 1978.
Dorothy cooked for many functions at her son Dale’s North Mound Tavern over the
years, and was his caretaker for many years following his accident. She was a
member of Holy Family Catholic Church, KSKJ Lodge #136, the Slovenian Women’s
Union, and the Clark County Homemakers. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and her
cat, Bootsie.
She is survived by seven children, Ray (Sue) Petkovsek, Madison, Donna (Charlie)
Washburn, Beach Park, Ill., Joanne (Bob) Trunkel, Greenwood, Dave (Brenda)
Petkovsek, Kennan, Jean Petkovsek, Greenwood, Dale (Christie Ciolkosz)
Petkovsek, Willard, and Mary (Tom Briski) Petkovsek; seven grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandra (John) Herdal, Spooner; one
sister-in-law, Kathy Prebil, Sheboygan; and several nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William, on Aug. 27,
2011; one sister, Virginia Himes; and one brother, Dick Prebil.
