Carpenter, Doris M. (Genrich) (29 JUN 1929 - 20 OCT 2012)
Doris M. Carpenter, age 83, of Abbotsford, passed away Saturday, October 20,
2012, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 24,
2012, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Dan Hackel will
preside. A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the
Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. In addition, visitation will be
held Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
Doris was born June 4, 1929, in the Town of Little Black to Henry and Marie
(Feddick) Genrich. She lived at the Feddick farm stead for a few years and then
lived in Dorchester till her marriage to Clarence “Carpy” Carpenter on August
18, 1954, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester.
After graduation from Dorchester High School in 1947, she worked in Wausau at
Employers Mutual for a couple years, and then moved back to Dorchester where she
went to work for Danielson Dry Cleaners, then at Ben Franklin in Abbotsford for
close to 40 years.
She resided in Abbotsford since her marriage in 1954, till her death.
Doris was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and member of the Altar
Society and Ladies Foresters. She enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling with her
daughter, and was an avid bowler.
Doris survived by her daughter, Mary Carpenter; her sisters, Blanche (Genrich)
Chapman and Beverly (Genrich) Fenske; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces
and grandnephews.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Carpy” Carpenter; her
mother and father, Henry and Marie Genrich; and twin sister, Dora (Genrich)
Ludwig.
