Gulcynski, Bruce John (4 September 1957 - 15 September 2012)
Bruce J. Gulcynski, age 55, of Thorp, passed away from natural causes on Monday,
October 15, 2012, at his home. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 22,
2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp with the
Rev. Don Meuret officiating. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date
in Sylvan Cemetery, Town of Reseburg rural Thorp. Visitation was held on Sunday,
October 21, 2012, from 4:30 until 8:30 p.m. at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic
Church with a 7:30 p.m. rosary. Visitation was also held on Monday, from 9:30
a.m. until time of service at the church.
Bruce John Gulcynski was born on September 4, 1957, in Chippewa Falls, WI to
Robert and Arnoldine (Benzschawel) Gulcynski. He received his education at Thorp
area schools and graduated from Thorp High School in 1976. He then attended
UW-Stout and UW-River Falls before returning to Thorp to begin farming. He was
united in marriage to Rose Wojt on September 2, 1978, at St. Hedwig’s Chapel in
Thorp. Together, they farmed in the Town of Reseburg for 34 years, where they
raised their family.
Bruce was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; who was extremely devoted
to his family, church, and God. He was very active in church and community
functions and always found time to help others when h could. He was a charter
member of the Thorp FFA Alumni, where he won awards for Outstanding Young Farmer
and Pride in the Farm. Bruce also served on the Board of Directors for the
Greenwood Co-op, was a member of the Thorp Knights of Columbus Queen of Peace
Council #4634 and was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholics Church. In
his spare time, he enjoyed canoeing and especially enjoyed spending time with
his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Gulcynski, and son, Tim Gulcynski, both of
Thorp; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Gulcynski of Green Bay; two grandchildren:
Abigail and Isabelle Gulcynski; four brothers: Mike (Monica) Gulcynski of
Stanley, jim (Cathlyn) Gulcynski of Thorp, Doug (Judy) Gulcynski of Thorp, and
Dan (Akiko) Gulcynski of Makinohara, Japan; two sisters: Mary (David) Lewien of
Ellsworth and Kathy (Mike) Plachetka of Rice Lake. Bruce is also survived by his
father-in-law and mother-in-law: Jerry and Pa t Wojt of Gilman; many nieces and
nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Paul J. Gulcynski.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Bruce’s name will be designated at a later
date.
