Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Hecker, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary Sunday with a Mass said in their honor at 11:15 at St.
Anthony's Catholic Church, and a dinner and reception followed in the church
hall. Rev. Norbert E. King officiated and the church choir sang the Mass.
One hundred and thirty guests were present for the dinner. At the reception,
which began at 3 o'clock, wedding cake and punch were served. The honored couple
were each presented with yellow rose buds and gifts which included a money tree
and a purse of silver dollars.
Mr. and Mrs. Hecker were married June 11, 1912 at St. Mary's Catholic Church,
Greenwood, by Rev. A. Beckman. One of their attendants, Mrs. Ed Kuska of
Evanston, Ill. was present for this celebration. She is a sister of Mr. Hecker.
Following their marriage they lived on a farm east of Greenwood, and for the
past fifteen years have lived on a farm south of Loyal.
Mr. Hecker was born May 25, 186?, in St. Nazianz to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hecker,
Sr. His wife, the former Julia M. Ystad, was born April 1, 1890 in Greenwood.
Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Hans Ystad. Both are in good health and Mr. Hecker
enjoys gardening as his hobby. They are members of St. Anthony's Catholic
Church.
All of their living children attended the golden wedding. They are Mrs. Florence
Dolloff of Wausau, Mrs. Mildred Robinson of Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. Lorene Devine of
Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Mary Ann Studnicka of Milwaukee, Bob Hecker of Louisville,
Ky., Harold Hecker of Downey, Calif., Peter F. Hecker of New Berlin, and Leonard
Hecker of LaMirada, Calif. They also have thirty-two grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
Two of their children are deceased. They are Conrad, who was born Jan. 6, 1913
and died Feb. 6, 1913, and Norbert, who was born Dec. 20 and died in April of
1928.
