To view the wedding of Judith Joan Wichman, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), and Donald
James Schmidt, route 2, Spencer, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church Saturday,
wedding guests came from Minneapolis, Whitewater, Menomonie Falls, Milwaukee,
Athens, Wausau, Janesville, Milton Junction, Muskego, Neillsville, Greenwood,
Spencer, Colby, Eau Claire, Marshfield, Sussex, Granton and Chatham, N.J.
Wedding vows between the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Wichman, Loyal, and
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Schmidt, were repeated before Rev. Norbert E.
King in a 10 a.m. ceremony, for which the church choir sang the Nuptial High
Mass.
For her wedding the bride chose a dress of imported silk organza, the fitted
bodice featuring a portrait neckline trimmed with pearls and embroidery detail.
The bouffant skirt had an embroidered panel in front and the back panel cascaded
into a chapel train.
Her fingertip veil of bridal illusion was held by an open crown of pearls and
crystal. She carried a white prayer book with a white orchid.
Mrs. Jerome Schmidt came from Minneapolis to be her sister's matron of honor,
and bridesmaids were Evelyn Schmidt, Spencer, a sister of the groom, and Mrs.
Allen Quast of White water. Their dresses were in three shades of blue in
embroidered silk organza with taffeta overskirts and cummerbunds.
The bride's mother was seen in a cotillion blue textured sheath with matching
jacket. The mother of the groom wore a pink sheath of embroidered silk organza.
The groom's brother, Jerome Schmidt of Minneapolis was best man, and groomsmen
were John Schultz of Spencer and Michael Hafenbradl of Milwaukee. Larry
Waldhauser of Menomonie Falls, the groom's brother-in-law, and Andrew Schmidt,
Jr. of Milwaukee, were ushers.
A dinner for 250 guests was served in the church hall followed by a reception at
the home of the bride.
Both the newlyweds are graduates of Loyal High School, the groom in 1952 and the
bride in 1959. The bride will be graduated from Luther School of Nursing in Eau
Claire in August. Mr. Schmidt is employed at the Thomas Wrecking Yards of Loyal,
and the bride will be employed at St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield in
September.
Following a honeymoon through northern Wisconsin, the couple will make their
home in Marshfield.
