Shaw, Elton (12 March 1928-17 Oct 2012)

Ellton R. Shaw, 84, Marshfield, died on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at the Marshfield Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Sabastian Venni officiated. Dorothy Gehrke, along with the Sacred Heart Funeral Choir, provided music. Burial was in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in the town of Richfield, Wood County.

Elton R. Shaw was born on March 12, 1928, in Neillsville, to Ray and Anita (nee Halle) Shaw. He moved with his parents to Marshfield in 1942. In his early years, he ran a trucking company, hauling lime to farmers in Wood County, Clark and Marathon counties. When fields were too wet to spread lime, he and his men cut iron and cleaned metals. Eventually, he stopped trucking and started Shaws Wrecking Yard. He married Cecilia B. Gosar on Jan. 29, 1955, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2005.

Elton is survived by his wife, Cecelia; four children, Joan (David) Boehning, Jean (John) Burkart, Thersa Shaw, and Thomas (Betty) Shaw, all of Marshfield; nine grandchildren, Nichole Boehning and Joshua Boehning of St. Paul, Minn., Jacob Boehning of Marshfield, Lukas Boehning of Eau Claire, Cecily Shaw of Marshfield, Zachary Shaw of Prairir du Sac, Denise (Michael) Lindau of Mrashfield, and Anita Burkart and Jared Burkart of Marshfield; and two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Max Lindau.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Marshfield Care Center for their kind and compassionate care during these difficult times.
