Susan E. Carlisle, 56, Granton, died peacefully on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 28, 2012, at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, Nov. 1. at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, from 6 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 7 p.m.

Susan Melquist was born on Jan. 5, 1956, in Minneapolis, Min., to Leslie and Phyllis (nee Christopherson) Melquist. She received an associate’s degree in nursing and was employed in Spooner for a short period of time before moving to Granton. She was a registered nurse at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, for many years. She retired as a case manager with Security Health of Marshfield. She enjoyed her animals at home including horses, mules and cats, and her dog, “Ted.”

She is survived by her significant other, Charles E. Smith, Merrillin; two children, Lisa (Eddie) Porter, Marianna, Fla., and Gregory Carlisle, Granton, her mother, Phyllis Melquist, Anoka, Minn.; three grandchildren, Justin, Cameron and Caden, and another one expected soon; and her siblings, John (Dorothy) Melquist, Rockford, Ill., Julie (Doug) Groettum, Eagan, Minn., and Jean (Larry) Anderson, Ramsey, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her father and her grandson, Cael Porter.

Memorials maybe designated to the Clark County Humane Society.
