----- Rueth, Franklin (Broken Leg - 29 SEP 1962)
Franklin (Fritz) Rueth, route 1, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), suffered a broken
right leg and a bruised left leg and wrist when a truck wheel rolled over his
leg Saturday evening.
Rueth had his tam of horses hitched to a two ton truck, in practice for a horse
pulling contest which he had intended to enter Sunday at Black River Falls. He
was driving the team when he slipped and fell, but the horses went on to pull
the truck over his leg.
A chain connecting the team and truck broke at the same time, preventing Rueth
from being dragged or more seriously injured. The motor of the truck was not
running at the time and the brake had been set. Alan Langfeldt was sitting
behind the steering wheel at the time.
