Haselow, Karen (10 June 1961)
Baskets of white glads and orchid mums decorated the altar of Trinity Lutheran
Church for the wedding of Karen Marie Haselow and Arthur Brearley on Saturday
afternoon, June 10. Rev. Ganz united the daughter of Mrs. Edwin Haselow and the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brearley of 1615 Conrad Place, New Berlin.
Jean Noldner presided at the organ and Donald and Nathan Noeldner sang “The
Lord’s Prayer” and “Today O Lord.”
As the bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Arthur Sorenson of Marion,
Indiana, she wore a gown of white nylon tulle with a V-neckline and it was edged
in Chantilly lace. Tiers of tulle and lace formed the chapel sweep of the long
bouffant skirt. The gown featured long fitted sleeves and her finger-tip veil to
a headpiece of seed pearls. An orchid surrounded by stephanotis made her
bouquet.
Maid of honor was Geraldine gray and bridesmaid was Susan Kissinger of West
Bend. The young women wore frocks of white organza over orchid taffeta and were
styled with simple neckline and short sleeves in a cocktail length. Orchid
embroidery accented the skirt and bodice and they carried an orchid surrounded
by stephanotis.
Mrs. Haselow saw her daughter’s wedding in a blue embroidered organza over
taffeta dress with white accessories and the groom’s mother wore a dress of
beige organza over taffeta with beige accessories. Each was presented with a
corsage of pink rose buds and white carnations.
The groom chose Richard Wadsworth of Downey, Illinois to be his best man and
groomsman was Jon Tierney of Superior. Gordon Haselow of Spencer and Charles
Haselow of Owen, both cousins of the bride, seated the wedding guests.
Wedding day events included a reception, supper and dance at Bruno’s Supper Club
at Marshfield.
The new Mrs. Brearley is a 1958 graduate of Loyal High School and will be a
senior at the University of Wisconsin at Madison next fall. Mr. Brearley
graduated from Solomon Juneau High School at Milwaukee in 1957 and was graduated
from the University of Wisconsin at Madison on June 5 and also was commissioned
as Ensign in the Navy on that day. The bride is a major in Home Economics and
the groom majored in science. He will be leaving in July for San Diego,
California where he will be stationed. After a honeymoon through Northern
Wisconsin they will live in Milwaukee.
