Carl Soltow, 78, died Monday morning at 6:30 at his home on route, 1, Loyal
(Clark Co., Wis.). He had been in ill health for the past six months.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Myre Funeral Home
with Rev. Alden Moldenhauer officiating. Burial will be in the Loyal Cemetery.
The body is lying in state at the Myre Funeral Home.
Mr. Soltow was born Aug. 20, 1884 in Germany and came to the United States at
the age of seven with his parents. They settled in Cosmos, Minn. and later moved
to Hutchinson, Minn. He lived there until October of 1939, when he moved to a
farm in the town of Beaver where he resided until his death.
He was married on Dec. 7, 1922 to the former Martha Vorbeck Tews at Hutchinson,
Minn. She survives him.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Edna) Sinclair, Metamore,
Ill.; Mrs. Marvin (Elvera) Buttner, Spencer; two sons, George at home, Carl R.
Riplinger; two step-daughters, Mrs. L.A. (Helen) Wendt, Deer River, Minn.; Mrs.
Herman (Elnora) Schultz, Marshfield; eight grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. An infant son, three brothers and two sisters preceded him
death.
