WILLIAM NOBLE
William Noble departed this life at his home
in the Town of Loyal, Clark County, Wis., Dec. 24th, 1890.
He was born in Ontario, Canada, In Aug. 1844. In 1871 he was
married to Miss Maggie McIntyre, and in May 1885, he moved to Clark
County, Wis., with his wife and three children. Here in his new
home his worth as a citizen was soon recognized, and his value as a
friend soon understood. He was a good farmer, and a man of good
business talent. As school clerk for six years, and as town
treasurer for three years, he won and retained the confidence of
all. Deeply seated were his moral principles and his religious
convictions. A Presbyterian by birth and training, he never allowed
the strong currents of western life to swerve him from the path of
duty and right. It was to him that a pastor looked for just such
counsel and assistance as every pastor in a new country must have.
Indeed he was coming to be such a pillar in the church as any
lonely minister might be proud of. His devotion to his family is
worthy of special note as all can testify.
The funeral was attended from the M. E. Church of Loyal on Friday
last at which more than three hundred people showed the most deep
and tender interest in the proceedings. Rev. Allen Bell, pastor of
the first Presbyterian Church of Beaver Dam, Wis., a very dear
friend of Mr. Noble's came to lend his counsel, his payers and his
tears on this sad occasion, while his pastor, Rev. W. T. Hendren of
Neillsville, was also assisted in the solemn services by Pastor
Connor of the M. E. Church of Loyal. Rev. Jefferson of Greenwood
was also present and Rev. Jos. Brown of Marshfield sent a letter of
sympathy for the deeply afflicted family. Belle, John and Daniel
remain to comfort a mother's heart, and to be her stay in declining
years. Truly God's ways are above our ways.
