HENRY A. PIPER
H. A. Piper died at his home 3 miles east of Loyal Friday evening,
at 10 o'clock, aged 69 years and 11 months. His death had been
expected and his children were at his bedside when the final
summons came.
He was born in the Town of Leroy, Jefferson County, N.Y., Sept. 8, 1832. He came to Christie, Clark County, Wis., in 1886, where he lived for several years, but the last ten years he lived at Spokeville, Clark County, Wis.
Some time ago he was taken sick with pneumonia, with which he
suffered some time, being forced to his bed and failed rapidly. He
served in the army three years during the civil war. He leaves a
large family of whom five sons and five daughters survive him, the
mother and one daughter having gone before him. He also has a
cousin, S. H. Chase, living near Christie.
The funeral was held at Christie Church Sunday, at 2 p.m., Rev.
Closter, of Greenwood, officiating. It was attended by a large
circle of friends.
