CYRIL P. LA FLEUR
One of the oldest residents of Clark County, Mr. Cyril P. La Fleur
died at his home in the Town of Weston, March 31, 1907. He was born
in the province of Quebec, Canada, May 6, 1824 was married to
Eunice Hewett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon B. Hewett, in June
1852. They came to Clark County in 1869 after living a year in
Neillsville they moved out to Hewettville, taking charge of the
hotel there for James Hewett, remaining there five years. In 1875
they settled on their present farm. He is survived by his wife, two
sons and two daughters. The son, George La Fleur, lives in Oregon
and Will resides on the home farm one daughter, Ella, wife of John
Clark, lives in Oregon, and the other daughter Alice, Mrs. Eugene
Mack, resides in Minneapolis. A son, Harry died about seven years
ago. Mr. La Fleur was considered by all who knew him to be a good
citizen and a good man. He had, when younger, held positions of
honor and trust in his town, and had done well his part in opening
up the wilderness of Clark County to cultivation. The funeral,
which was largely attended was held at Christie on Tuesday, Rev. W.
T. Hendren officiating.
