Elmo BARKER, 1909 - 2000


Elmo R. BARKER, 91, Vesper, died Saturday, September 30, 2000 at Marshfield Center. She resided in the Woodco Apartments until one month ago. Funeral services were held at Community Funeral Home in Spencer, with Rev. Gary Hedding of Faith Lutheran church in Marshfield officiating. Burial was in West Spencer Cemetery in the Town of Sherman, Clark county. Elmo's grandchildren served as pallbearers.


Elmo was born February 22, 1909, in Abbotsford, to Seth and Louise (nee MALCHOW) BARKER. Elmo and Ruby Mae OEHLER were married August 25, 1932, in Dorchester. He and his wife farmed in the Unity and Spencer areas. Elmo also worked at Pathfinder and Land O' Lakes in Spencer and E-Z Camper in Loyal.


He is survived by one son, Larry (Corine) BARKER of Sigel one daughter, Donna SCHNEIDER of Marshfield one daughter-in-law, Rosabell BARKER of Merrill eight grandchildren seven great-grandchildren three step-great-grandchildren one great-great-grandchild his brother, Arnold (Minnie) BARKER of Mayville and his sister, Marie (Gay) GRAFFUNDER of Medford. He was preceded in death by his wife on October 20, 1983 one son (Duane BARKER) one brother (Herbert) and one sister (Alice).
