OBITUARY FOR G. S. BARLOW (1848 - 1923)
Death early Tuesday morning took from our midst the life of George
S. Barlow, a highly respected citizen of this community (Owen,
Clark County). Early the evening before he was taken suddenly ill
with an attack of acute indigestion, from which he never
recovered.
Mr. Barlow, with his wife, came to Owen about five years ago from
Greenwood, and since that time has been employed as station agent
for the Fairchild and Northeastern Railway. He was a railroad man
of many years experience, having served the old Wisconsin Central
and Soo Line Railways long enough to be on the pension list.
He was born Nov. 27, 1848 at Delevan, Wis., and on Sept. 10, 1885
was married, and to this union one daughter was born, Mrs. A. N.
Simon, of Alma, Wis. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife,
one daughter, a brother and sister and five grandchildren.
Wednesday evening at 9:30 o'clock funeral services were held at the
home, Rev. F. W. Sherman, vicar of St. Katharine's Church
officiating and being assisted by the Masonic Lodge of this place,
of which he was a member. Following the services his body was taken
to the Soo Line Station, where it was put aboard the limited train
and taken to the place of his birth, Delavan, for burial.
The bereaved wife and daughter, Mrs. A. N. Simon have the heartfelt
sympathy of a great many friends in the loss of their husband and
father (Owen Enterprise)
