ROY BENSON PASSES AWAY AT HOSPITAL
Roy Benson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Benson
of the town of Longwood, Clark County passed away at the Sacred
Heart Hospital in Eau Claire on Sunday morning, Oct. 19th,
1919.
The young man was taken to the hospital on Thursday morning
suffering with a sun shot wound which he had received the Sunday
before while out hunting with other companions near his home. As
stated in our issue a week ago, the young man received a full
charge of bird shot in the stomach from his own gun, which was
accidentally discharged by being pulled over a log.
From the time of the accident until he was removed to the hospital,
little hope was entertained by his relatives of his recovery, and
at the hospital he seemed to gain but little.
His remains were brought to Withee and on Tuesday of last week
funeral services were held at the Norwegian Church in Longwood and
his remains laid to rest in the Churchyard Cemetery.
Roy Benson was a young man 19 years old, and was educated in the
Longwood School. He was one of the popular young men of that
township and had a large circle of friends in this vicinity. The
bereaved parents have the sympathy of a large number of friends at
home and away.
