Bersell, Leona M. (1913-2001)
Leon Mary Bersell, age 87, of Marshfield, died Wed. March 28
at Cedar Crest Health Ceneter in Janesville.
She was born in Danvers, MN on July 22, 1913, the daughter of
Charles and Mary (Mathiesen) Schnitzler and was a graduate of
Sacred heart Parochial School and Marshfield High School.
Leona married Donald H. Bersell on Aug. 1, 1937 in Marshfield and
he preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 1979.
She was a postal worker for the Chili Post Office. Leona was a
member of sacred heart Christian Church Mothers, Chili Senior
center and the National Association of retired Federal
Employees.
Leona is survived by her son, Gary (Audrey) of Janesville six
grandchildren: Sara (Russell) Crowe and Todd bersell, both of
Janesville, Steven (Michelle) Bersell of Chicago, tari (Greg)
Stegge of Eau Claire, Stephanie (Brian Kaye)Bersell of Madison, Amy
(Rob) Rosen of Janesville seven great grandchildren: Brittney,
Travis and Tyler Crowe, Thomas, Matthew and Rachel Stegge and
Brandon Rosen a sister, Laura Hoerres of Milwaukee sister-in-law,
Eleanor Schnitzler of Marshfield numerous nieces, nephews, other
relatives and dear friends.
A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 2 in sacred Heart
Catholic Church, Marshfield. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery,
Marshfield.
Leona's family would appreciate memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic
Church, Faith Lutheran Church or to Hospice Care, Inc.
Pallbearers were Todd and Steven Bersell, Russell Crowe, Greg
Stegge, Rob Rosen Donald Schnitzler, James Herkert and Kenneth
Koch.
Rembs Kundinger Funeral Home of Marshfield assisted Leona's family
with arrangements.
