Blomberg, Ivar H. (1924-2000)
Ivar H. Blomberg, 76, Town of Spirit, died Wednesday, March
22, at Memorial Hospital in Medford.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 25 at Ogema Baptist
Church in Ogema, with Rev. H. David Root and Rev. James LeMaster
officiating. Interment took place in the Garden of Memories
Cemetery in the Town of Hill, with military honors conducted by
Spirit American Legion Post.
Heindl Funeral Home in Prentice assisted the family with
arrangements.
Ivar Blomberg was born on January 29, 1924 to the late George and
Lillian Blomberg. He was a 1941 graduate of Rib Lake High School
and served in the US Army during WWII.
His marriage to Myrtle Brooks, who survives, took place on June 8,
1947 at El Paso, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree
from Texas Western College in 1954, Bachelor of Divinity degree in
1958 and Theology Masters degree in 1975 from Bethel Seminary, and
his Doctor of Ministry from the Conservative Baptist Theological
Seminary in 1983. He was ordained to the ministry in 1950, and
served as pastor at Baptist Church in Dell City, Texas, Spirit,
LaPorte, Minn., Aitkin, Minn., West Concord, Minn., and St. Paul,
Minn. He was the Midwestern Area Representative of the Conservative
Baptist Foreign Mission Society for 12 years.
He was a member of the Ogema Baptist Church, Spirit American Legion
Post, and Ogema Lions. He served as the first president of the
Fellowship of Minnesota Conservative Baptists, and as a member of
the Board of Trustees of Northwest College at Roseville, Minn. for
30 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Tim, St. Paul
two daughters, Judy (Rev. James) LeMaster, Ogema, and Debby (Wayne)
Berfeldt, St. Paul three sisters, Grace (Harold) Rhody, Spirit,
Betty (Floyd) Nelson, Ogema, and Edythe (Rev. Robert) Gravely,
Wilmar, Minn. seven brothers, Rev. Edwin (Jewell), Lyle (Kathy),
and John (Myrtle), all of Ogema, Roy (Rev. Terri), Greenwood, Clark
County, WI Palmer (Madelyn), Medford, Lawrence (Joyce),
Rhinelander, and George (Hope), Ashland seven grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son,
James and three brothers, Alan, Wilbert, and infant Palmer.
