John J. Boyce (Borysiewicz)
, 89 of Stanley passed away January 24, 1999 at Victory Medical Center.


He was born November 20, 1909 in Thorp, the son of Stanley and Josephine Borysiewicz. he grew up in Thorp and attended Thorp schools.


John married Eleanor Flanagan June 18, 1938. They had one daughter Sharon, born May 22, 1940. In 1940 the family moved to Benicia, CA, where John worked as a security guard in a government arsenal. John served in World War II and was released from the Navy on December 17, 1945. He then became manager of the Stanley Theatre. When movie attendance declined because of the spread of television, John went to work for Ryland Shock, selling farm machinery and Plymouth and Dodge cars. John joined the Stanley Police Force in 1952 and was eventually promoted to chief, serving for 19 years until his retirement at age 62 in 1971.


John was active in the F M Masonic Lodge and was a past master. He also was a faithful member of the American Legion. He spent his leisure time fishing, bike riding and walking. He also spent much time with his grandchildren.


Survivors include his wife Eleanore grandson David Lien, Colorado Springs, CO; granddaughter Sandra (Lien) Filipaik, Grand Rapids, MN; great granddaughter, Faith Filipiak sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Anton) Boyce and Mary (Henry) Boyce and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents brothers: Anton and Henry sisters: Frances Enright and Mary Woods a daughter Sharon Lien and a son-in-law Dr. James Lien.


Funeral arrangements are pending.
