OBITUARY OF CHARLES CLINTSMAN (1840 -1926)
Charles Clintsman was born in Hermon, New
York, May 20, 1840, where he grew to manhood.
In 1863 he was united in marriage to Sarah A. Brown. To this union
six children were born, three preceding him in death.
In 1878 they moved to Kansas and in August 1887 he was again united
in marriage, this time to Ellen Barnett, here two children were
born, Vernia, Mrs. Guy Turner, who died in May 1920, Ollie, Mrs. A.
Leininger, who resides in Oshkosh.
They then moved to Clark County, Wis. in 1891, where they resided
on a farm in the town of York and here five children were born.
They are Rachel, Mrs. E. Bragger of the town of Eaton, Floyd at
home, Inex at home, Fred in the town of Eaton and Celia, Mrs. M.
Berthold of Tioga.
In 1902 they moved to the town of Weston, where one son Francis was
born. They resided there until the year of 1919, when they moved to
the town of Eaton, where they resided until his death.
He was a hard working man until health failed him in 1920. In Oct.
1925 he had a stroke which left him somewhat paralyzed until
another stroke caused his death on Aug. 6, 1926 at 8:30
o'clock.
He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly
missed by all.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, nine children, twenty
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and a host of
friends.
Services were held Sunday, July 8th at 1:30 at the home and 2:00
o'clock at the Christie Methodist Church, Rev. T. O. Thompson
officiating. Interment was in the Neillsville Cemetery.
