OBITUARY OF MRS. G. E. COLE (1829-1926)
Sarah Amanda Goss was born at Randolph,
Portage Co., Ohio April 24, 1829 and died near Thorp, Clark Co.,
Wis. Dec. 21, 1926 being 97 years, 7 months and 27 days of age.
In early life she came to Sauk Co., Wis. where she was united in
marriage to Gilman E. Cole, Nov. 1, 1854, after which they located
near Reedsburg in Sauk Co., where were born four children, Roderick
D., Beder A., Rosetta A., and Charley G. the first named dying in
infancy.
In 1874 they moved to Woodstock, Richland Co., where Rosetta A.
died in August 1882. In March 1896 her husband died at
Woodstock.
She continued to reside there until 1911, when she moved near Thorp
in Clark Co., where she resided until death.
On March 3, 1876, she obeyed the gospel of her Lord during the
ministry of F. M. Stewart of Woodstock.
While her physical condition held up, she was always ready to give
a helping had to those in need, but her work on earth is finished
and she has gone to her reward.
She leaves two children, Beder A. and Charley G., five
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren to mourn her loss,
besides many, many friends who knew her where she lived.
A short funeral service was conducted at the Bishop Undertaking
parlors at Greenwood by Rev. Householder, after which the remains
were taken to Woodstock where she was laid to rest beside her
husband and daughter.
