LONGTIME RESIDENT OF LOYAL, PERCY F. VOIGHT DIES

Percy F. Voight, 89, 304 West. St. Loyal, Clark County, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 1975 at the Marshfield Convalescent Center.

Funeral services for Percy Voight were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal, with Father Chester Osowski officiating. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were Jesse Raab, Max Neitzel, Bill Kleinschmidt, and George Bentzier, all World War I Veterans.

Active pallbearers were Gene Artz, Kenneth Kanneberg, Dale Kauffman, Vincent Lindner, Edward Miller, and Ted Schlinsog.

The flag was present by Jesse Raab. Full military rites were conducted by the Loyal American Legion Post 175.

The Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, was in charge of arrangements.

Percy F. Voight was born Oct. 3, 1895 at Waupun, Wis. He received his education at Oshkosh schools. He came to Loyal in 1914 with his family and worked in a garage. He served in World War I from May 1917 to June 1918.

He was married to the former Eleanore Leabel on June 28, 1920, at Loyal. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding Anniversary in 1970.

He began as a rural mail carrier in Feb. of 1921, serving on Route 1, Loyal for 37 years, 5 months, retiring in 1957. While an active carrier he served two years as vice president and two years as president of the Clark County Rural Carriers Association, and was vice president and president for two terms in the District Association.

From 1942 to 1944 he was vice president of the state and from 1944 1946 he was president of the Wisconsin Rural Letter Carriers Association. He was a charter member of American Legion Pst 175 and held most of the offices of that organization. He was a charter member and past president of the Loyal Rotary Club, and for 12 years was secretary treasurer of the Loyal Fire Dept., in which he had 20 years of service before becoming an honorary member.

He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Knight of Columbus.

Percy Voight is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Sherrin (Leabel) Mack, Loyal, two sons, Joseph and Jon, both of Wausau, one brother, Harvey Voight, Zephyr Hills, Fla. And one sister, Mrs. Arch (Agnes) Leemon, Tucson, Ariz.

He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two brothers, and one sister.
