WALTER DECKER--(1904-1988)


Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Greenwood, Clark County, for Walter Decker, 83, Route 2, Greenwood. He died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1988 at 10:52 a.m. at Neillsville Memorial Hospital.


Rev. John Tschudy officiated at services, with burial at the Westside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ken and Ervin Steiger, Chuck Suda, Don Noeldner, Art Wehrman, and Harvey Goeke.


Walter Decker was born May 11, 1904 in Greenwood to Ferdinand and Mita (nee Humke) Decker. He was educated in the Decker School.


On Aug. 28, 1929, he and Martha Miller were married in Greenwood. In 1934, they moved to Indiana, later moving to Chicago, where he was an ice cream maker for 11 years. After moving back to this area, he was a cheesemaker at West Eaton Cheese Factory. He then farmed on the family farm until his retirement in 1975.


Decker was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and was a past member of the consistory.


Survivors include his wife one sister, Mrs. Lillian Miller, Loyal and nieces and nephews.


Rink Funeral Home, Greenwood, handled arrangements.
