E. DERBY DEAD-- (1851-1915)

Ernest Derby, a well driller of Loyal, and a former resident of this city, who was on his way from Loyal to Granton on business, died at the Juneau Hotel in Marshfield, Monday night at 10 o'clock, the cause of death being heart disease. He arrived there on the morning train from Loyal and had intended leaving on the 10:40 Omaha train for Granton, but, as he was not feeling well, stopped at the hotel to rest. He grew worse and was given a bed following which medical aid was summoned. He was sixty-four years of age and is survived by his wife and several children. The remains were shipped to Loyal Tuesday afternoon.

Thursday morning the funeral was held at the home in Loyal and the body brought to this city and interred in the Greenwood cemetery.
