OBITUARY Eggett, Robert (1831-1915)
Robert Eggett was born in Yorkshire, England,
Sept. 4, 1831 and died in this city Jan. 5, 1915, of dropsy. In
1883 he left England for Canada, where he remained about a year,
coming to Wisconsin in 1884 and settling on a farm two and one half
miles southeast of this city. Here he lived for twenty-three years,
clearing and improving his farm. In 1907 he sold his farm and moved
to this city where he resided until his death. He was known by all
the old settlers for miles around and was respected and well spoken
of by everyone. He was a member of and a loyal supporter of the
Methodist church, being for years a Class Leader.
The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church
Thursday, Jan. 7, at two o'clock. The pall bearers were men who had
been his neighbors during the years he lived on the farm. He leaves
to mourn his loss a wife, two sons, one daughter and a host of
friends in and around the city.
