IOLA FARNING


Iola Lorraine Farning, 87, Neillsville, Clark County, formerly of Greenwood, died Thursday Oct. 24, 1996, at Memorial Medical Center Nursing Home, Neillsville. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, 1996 at Memorial Nursing Home Chapel, Neillsville. Rev. Jenny Schroeder officiated. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.


Iola Lorraine Farning was born on Nov. 15, 1908, in the town of Eaton, Clark County, to John and Mary (nee Luchterhand) Farning. As an infant she was cared for and raised by Emma Syth and Arthur and Amelia Syth. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1926 and from business college in Belle Plain, Iowa in 1928. After her education she worked as a bookkeeper for Picus Store in Greenwood for a couple of years. She entered the nursing home in 1977 and resided there until he death. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Greenwood.


Survivors include one brother, Henry Farning, Colby, several nieces and nephews and close friends, Alberta and Bernard Cunningham of Wausau and their daughters, Kay and Jane.


She was preceded in death by her parents five brothers, Clarence, Robert, Arthur, John and Edward, and one sister, Helen.
Rinka Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
