Geraldine Fierke (9 Jul 1918 - 7 Oct 1999)


Geraldine Fierke, 81, Abbotsford, Clark County, WI died Thursday, Oct. 7 at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford.


Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 11 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Dorchester, with Rev. Jerome Freimuth officiating. Burial took place in the Evergreen Cemetery at Medford. Serving as pallbearers were Todd Zuber, Loren Steevens, Mark Steevens, Kevin Steevens, Lyle Hansel and Jerry Carstensen.


Maurina Funeral Home of Abbotsford assisted the family with arrangements.


The former Geraldine Steevens was born July 9, 1918 in the Town of Deer Creek, Stetsonville, to the late Henry and Emma (Carstensen) Steevens. She earned her teaching degree from the Taylor County Normal School in Medford.


Her marriage to Harvey Fierke, who survives, took place on June 29, 1940. While farming in the Town of Deer Creek, she also taught grade school in Taylor County. The couple moved to Abbotsford in 1976 and she retired from teaching in 1980. She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Dorchester.


In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Dawn (Kenneth) Zuber of Abbotsford a son, Eugene (Mary) of Marysville, Wash. two brothers, Jerome (Evie) of Stetsonville, and Marvin (Joyce) of Dorchester one sister, Lucille Pitzke of Medford and four grandchildren.


She was also preceded in death by a son, James, and a brother, Harvey.
