MRS. JULIA KOCI RITES SAID AT GREENWOOD
Mrs. Julia Koci, 67, Greenwood, Clark County,
was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Hospital following a heart
attack on Feb. 20, 1976.
Mrs. Koci was born Feb. 26, 1908, at Bratislava, Czechoslovakia.
She came to America in 1914 when she was 5. Her marriage to Frank
Koci took place in 1930. They lived in Phillips, Wis. and Milwaukee
until 1947, when they moved to rural Loyal and farmed and built
what is now known as K-Korners tavern. In 1950, she moved to
Greenwood. She worked as a bookkeeper at Clark Electric Cooperative
from Oct. 16, 1954 to July 1971, when she retired. She received her
education at South Milwaukee High School and graduated from
Metropolitan Business College in Milwaukee.
Services were held on Feb. 23 at St. Mary's Catholic Church,
Greenwood with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery. Reverend Robert
Houston officiated, with Rinka Funeral Home in charge of
services.
Mrs. Koci was a member of St. Mary's Church, St. Ann's Society,
Royal Neighbors and the Greenwood Auxiliary.
Her parents and one son are deceased. Surviving Mrs. Koci are one
daughter, Mrs. Francis (Carolyn) Kohlnhofer, Route 2, Greenwood two
sons, Robert, Bordeaux, France and James, Milwaukee, Wis. four
sisters, Mrs. Lydia Dishaw, Oak Creek, Mrs. Larry (Ann) Operle,
South Milwaukee, Mrs. Myron (Mary) Fick, South Milwaukee, and Mrs.
David (Margaret) Ballis, South Milwaukee.
Pallbearers were Francis Brey, Clayton Kohlnhofer, John Speich,
Adolph Wessel, Bernie Kitzhaber and Joe Herr.

Koci, Julia (26 February 1908 – 13 February 1976)
Mrs. Julia Koci, 67, Greenwood was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital in
Marshfield at 9:05 a.m. Friday. Death was attributed to a blood clot in her
lung.
The former Julia Kronpa was born February 26, 1908, in Bratislava,
Czechoslovakia, and came to America when she was five years of age. She attended
high school in South Milwaukee and graduated from Metropolitan Business College
in Milwaukee.
After her marriage to Frank Koci in 1913, the couple lived in Phillips and
Milwaukee. In 1947, they moved to rural Loyal, where they farmed and built what
is now known as K-Corners Tavern.
In 1950 she moved to Greenwood and worked as a bookkeeper for Clark Electric
Cooperative from 1954 until retirement in 1971.
Mrs. Koci was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Society and
Royal Neighbors of America.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Carolyn) Kohlnhofer of Greenwood,
two sons Robert of Bordeaux, France, and James of Milwaukee: four sisters, Mrs.
Lydia Dishaw of Oak Creek, Mrs. Larry (Ann) Operle, Mrs. Myron (Mary) Fick and
Mrs. David (Margaret) Ballis, all of South Milwaukee; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday from St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Burial was made in the parish cemetery. The Rev. Robert Houston officiated.
Pallbearers were Francis Brey, Clayton Kohlnhofer, John Speich, Adolph Wessel,
Bernard Kitzhaber and Joe Herr.
