GEORGE S. FINKLE DIES SUNDAY


George Samuel Finkle, for many years a resident of Greenwood, Clark County, and vicinity died at his home in the city Sunday morning, June 21, 1931. Mr. Finkle had been ill with cancer of the bladder for some time.


Deceased was born in Roden, Canada, Jan. 29, 1858, and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. R. Finkle. At the age of 8 years he moved with his parents to Pontiac, Mich., where he grew to manhood. Later he worked on the railroad and on May 12, 1886, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Ann Elliott.


In 1893 Mr. and Mrs. Finkle moved to Greenwood and purchased a farm southeast of the city, known as the Oscar Rear place. Twelve years ago they sold the farm and moved to this city, where he has since resided.


He was 73 years, 4 months and 22 days of age at the time of his death, and is survived by his wife and four sons, Charles, Edwin, Henry and Harvey. He also leaves one brother, Wm. Finkle of Mead, Kan., two sisters, Mrs. Mary Packer of Cuyahoga, Ohio, and Mrs. Hannah Farley of Pueblo, Col., and 7 grandchildren, besides a host of friends who honored and respected him.


Funeral services were held at the local M.E. Church yesterday afternoon, Rev. D. S. Householder officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.
