Kenneth Fischer (8 APR1921 - 19 SEP 1999)


Former Town of Browning resident Kenneth H. Fischer, 78, died Sunday, Sept. 19 at Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, where he had resided the past six years.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 24 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. Jeffrey Mahnke officiating.


Visitation will be held from 4-9 Thursday, Sept. 23 at Hemer Funeral Home, and at church from 9-11 a.m. on Friday before the funeral service. His grandsons Scott Ecklund, Ted R. Fischer, Brad and Craig Fischer, and Josh and Chad Clough will serve as pallbearers.


Kenneth H. Fischer was born April 8, 1921 at Perkinstown to the late Henry and Carrie (Weirouch) Fischer. He attended Perkinstown Elementary School and graduated from Medford Area Senior High in 1939.


His marriage to Kathleen M. "Kay" Ritchie, who died May 24, 1994, took place at Kenosha on December 21, 1946. He worked as a trapper in Kenosha.


He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army from 1942-46 in Europe, where he received a Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. After the service, he worked in Kenosha until 1948, when he moved to the Town of Browning where he worked as a mink farmer and also at the Department of Natural Resources until 1952. He then started Ken's Radio TV Repair which he operated until retirement in 1986.


He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Church, a past member of Klossner-Dietzler VFW Post No. 5729 and Medford Mink Capitol Flying Club.


Survivors include one son, Alan (Bonnie), Eau Claire two daughters, Valerie (Mark) Eisner, Roberts, Mont., and Beverly (Mike) Clough, Medford one brother, Theodore (Ella), Perkinstown seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


He was also preceded in death by one infant son, Thomas George, and one sister, Helen Winslow.
